An Internet Content Provider (ICP) Filing Number is an app registraion number from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology(MIIT). Major Android app stores in China mainland now require Internet Content Provider filing number(ICP Filing Number, also known as APP Filing Number) for listing apps. Apple's App Store has also followed suit, and in the future, only registered apps will be available for download from app stores in China Mainland.

Recently, Apple updated its policy requirements for app listings on the App Store. Starting from September 30, 2023, if your iOS app is to be listed in mainland China, it must obtain an Internet Content Provider filing number(ICP Filing Number, also known as APP Filing Number). This adjustment is in response to new regulations issued by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in August 2023, which stipulate that all app distributors must undergo business registration, and unregistered apps will be unable to provide services. Additionally, starting from April 1, 2024, apps without ICP Filing Number will be unable to publish updates and face mandatory removal.
